Display of Silver

Ferens Art Gallery Number 6
A display of Hull Silver including City Silver, Holy Trinity Silver, Trinity House Silver and Silver from the University of Hull. Much of the Silver to be included is normally only in use for ceremonial purposes and is seen by very few people. This display will be the first opportunity that the general public will have to see the Silver in over 45 years and the first time it has all been brought together.

Medieval music with Peter Bull on Saturday 20th March. Half hour performances at 12 noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm. Performance of Medieval music using a lute, hurdy gurdy, dulcimer and recorder.

All children welcome to attend craft sessions, sessions are to make decorations to change the Children's Library into a Medieval market on Saturday 27th March. Crafts to include, the making of a Hobby - Horse to be used on market day at the Hobby-Horse jousting tournament. Making of a May Pole with decorations. Coins to coincide with first coins minted and coin bags/ purses. Making of shop counters/ stalls etc. Making of Bows and Arrows - outlaws to take something from craft session and hide it ready for a "search" on market day.

A Son et Lumiere installation by John Stead, using computer generated images and electro acoustic music. The work utilises images of fractals and dragonflies, the resonance's of Nepalese and Tibetan bells and is based on the 'Harmonies of the World' by the 16th century astronomer Johannes Kepler.

Navigating Hull is a series of virtual reality models of Hull's best known buildings, including; Ferens Art Gallery, Hull City Hall, Hull New Theatre and the Maritime Museum. these will all be accessible through the internet.
The launch will take place at 12noon followed byopen access sessions for the public during the afternoon.
